Silver Unicorn and a Pouty Witch, Copics

Moira, a Kladruber Unicorn
5″ x 7″ Copic Markers

In today’s installment of the Season of the Horse (a new project to improve my horse drawing skills), we have a unicorn based on a very old Czech breed, the Kladruber, found on Pinterest! The convex facial profile (rounded out instead of sloping inward), is an identifying characteristic of this breed. Here is an insanely adorable foal.

Hoping to get back in the swing of Paint Party Friday! Meanwhile, I’m still in early-Halloween mode with witch ATCs. This is Marciana, captured with a crabby scowl because her prized Fancy Chiggerwort spoiled. Bummer.

2.5″ x 3.5″ Copics, fine liners, white gel pen

Thanks for dropping in! Still super busy at my day job. And I have to decide very soon about September’s 30 Paintings in 30 Days! Are you going to do it?

Thank you! Almost all Copics – the mane was a Prismacolor Pencil experiment. I should probably note that in the post. I forgot because I rarely use anything but fine liners and Copics! :)

You used colored pencils? I’m so excited! :D

The unicorn looks amazing – and it was very fun to see your reference with your drawing! (Also, FOAL!) Love the mirroring between your background and your foreground shading design! Super incredibly dimensional horn, too! <3

Oh wow, Marciana looks a bit pissed off …. Wouldn’t like to be near her when she’s in this mood ;-) Love that eye on your unicorn. Great work!

Moira has something to say…perhaps she is thinking about the 30 paintings challenge;)

Fabulous…..love the colors…..soft blue and pinks are always soothing. The convex nose is quite amusing……if I hadn’t seem the photo would never thought a real horse had a funky muzzle like that!
    Its really pronounced!

And I love the way the small horn was done……..it looks like old growth from many yrs ago…….

So the unicorn is #1 of the 30 day group & the witch is she also one of the 30? Your fan mail is fun to read.
