Meow Tai, Mai Tai for Illustration Friday

The topic is Refresh at Illustration Friday. And they’ve got a whole new look. I find it looks lovely but is not as user friendly as the old. If you agree or have issues and want to let them know, may I suggest you do so on the blog post announcing the new design.

I started off with a teacup, intending perhaps to cover it with odd creatures or add a silly beast swimming inside. But then the teacup became a cat cup and the cat told me, in no uncertain terms, that a Mai Tai or other liquored beverage would suit us all better in these trying times. I agreed.

Actually I was thinking Margarita, but fortunately someone more schooled in the bartending arts let me know the garnish I had chosen was all wrong for a Margarita. And anyway, MEOW TAI! The same knowledgeable fellow went on to disagree that the “Meow Tai” thing worked very well. I disagreed.

Went a little crazy beach bingo party neon with the background, but it seemed to fit. ;)

    Another beauty! This image intrigues me and I think it is because the face of the cat (quite down to earth in a truely catty way) contrasts so with the fancy cocktail.

    Yeah, I could go for a Meow Tai – nice lateral thinking and picture! Cindy, I can’t cope at all with the new look Illustration Friday – don’t know how to find anything – help! Thanks for the link to the deer mouse. I MUST have one. Are they friendly?

      Happy to help, Gay! But yes, I fear the new Illustration Friday is not as user friendly as the old. I also don’t think there will be as much visiting and commenting because not only can you see the whole image (instead of a teaser thumbnail), but the page loads only a group at a time and then you have to wait, and it also seems to lock up at times and needs to be re-loaded. And many links or images on the main page are not working. Arggh. I shall have to drop a note to the makers (and hope others do as well).

      (As for the deer mouse, I’d guess they are a bit skittish as small, fragile things often are. But if you could manage to hand raise one from a babe you’d probably be all set!)

    Ooh margarita… now your talking! I could so go one right now but would probably pass out after a couple of sips because I can’t drink. That aside, love the cat cup – would be great for a cup of tea – infact that would have been great for ‘refresh’ too…

    And I agree 100% about the new IF. Really, a beautiful website, but as someone who loves to peruse other people’s entries, this is not as user-friendly and I can definitely see the number of comments dropping off. Sigh.

    I came here seeking “Suspend” but got Refreshed instead! Wow, to everything you do! Your concepts, colour sense and textures, composition, and just how alive your pictures look – beautiful work!
