It’s Day 25 of Leslie Saeta’s 30 Paintings in 30 Days! And my second Paint Party Friday, wooo! I’m so glad PPF will still be here when the challenge ends. Oh! And Sarah’s brand new 50 Canvases in 2014.

I did not love this image at first. It was flat and lifeless and not very interesting. And I thought, I must power through it – they will not all be masterpieces. And then I remembered that thing that always happens, which is that you’re not just “finishing” a thing as you go (inked or painted or otherwise), you’re continually improving it. And in the end I got to a place I like. Also: layers. The best color comes from layers, at least in my limited (25 days!) of acrylic painting thus far.

    LOVE this flower girl – just went with a bunch of kids to see Frozen this afternoon and your creation has huge Disney eyes – so cool!!
    BTW – I think you are doing amazingly well for only 25 days of acrylics! I need you to teach me how to paint!

      Thank you! I think all my practice with markers has helped. In fact, I think any medium you practice in has some crossover skills to other mediums. There is just so much to learn!

    Very Cool. I love your designs. They all have tremendously beautiful colors! I love COLOR. I can see your art turned into a children’s book!! Have fun with Day #26. (Man, those 30 days are going by FAST!!). (Me, too – I am thinking of participating in 29 Faces..this would be my first time trying.)

    Cindy, striking colors on this illustration. The complementary colors really compliment each other. I like the big expressive eyes and the floral print in the background.

    I love your colorful style, Cindy! It’s hard to believe that you’ve only been using acrylics for 25 days :) When this challenge is over I plan to go back and really look at all the entries, I’m always so rushed but yours caught my eye tonight!
