A silver cat for the topic “rescue” at Illustration Friday. Hector came into the shelter with his brother Hans, two spitting fur balls about four pounds each. A kind and patient foster couple took them in and eventually adopted them both. Apparently Hans became a lap cat but Hector likes to sit on the back of the couch and lick your head.
And then I thought, these cats I’ve been doing are different than cats I have done in the past. Perhaps it’s time for a cat retrospective!
Of these, though I dig the cloaks and Santa hat, my favorite is the pumpkin cat. Maybe because she looks the most like the Peterbald type cat I often use as a reference.
Of these my favorite is the first one, because it’s a different style cat that really worked – though I haven’t been able to duplicate that style in quite the same way since.
Of these I am particularly fond of Sleeping Mathilda, in the middle. I think she’s pretty cute!
Do you have a favorite? I love cats but I’m a dog person at heart so I am always interested to get a cat person opinion. (And all the other opinions, too!) Thanks for visiting!

huh, hard to choose as your style evolved quite a bit! and I’m very much a cat person :)
but I am inclined towards your previous cats even though I find the sleeping Mathilda very very cute (she reminds me of my Mucko)… I think it’s because they don’t want to look more realistic (as I think the new ones do) and they are more in your artsy decorative style which I really love and like
I know just what you mean! I will likely continue to use a combination of old and new styles.
Here kitty kitty:) Fab kitties Cindy! Love the cattitude of each, especially the really put out silver guy:)
Of the 3 I love the 1st one in the bonnet! But all are pretty neat-no I am not predjiced!! Love, Mom PS finally got the computer to work after almost 3 weeks! Tomorrow Stanley & I will take Susan out for her BD!
My favorite is the first cloaked cat. The white trim on the cloak practically glows. And you are the queen of eyes.
Oh, Cindy, such lovely work!!!! Love them!!!
Love your cats Cindy!
Oh my, who can choose. All your cats have such personality. I’m a dog person too, although I would love to have a cat, but the Husband is highly allergic.
I have to say Sleeping Mathilda is my favorite, but they are all so unique. Even the eye-patch cat!
Hector looks very respectable. One can see he has endured a bad kittenhood. He has this tragic look. Siamese features. And… he looks so real! I want to stroke his chin.
Mathilda is just sooooo sweet! purrrrr purrrrrrr
These are PURRRRfect! Fantastic idea of a cat retrospective……since you are so prolific……
I also lean towards the early cats because they look more like sphynx cats which are some of my favorite cats…..altho I have a furry calico!
Nice Cats Cinders…No way would I let Hector lick my head in case he spat some disgusting furr balls down my neck!
Surely my favorite is Mathilda, she’s so cute!
So many cats! I think I’m having an allergy attack! My favorite is the sleeping one!
Lovely work! Love all your cats! Great!
Well, I’m not a huge cat fan, but I like your drawings of them. We always had Siamese, and our first one was named Suzy. She was the only cat I really liked. I think I like your Santa cat best, but hard to decide.
Hector looks as though he has had a hard life. Glad he found a good home. I like the pumpkin cat too.
I love your use of the word “rescue” to refer to adopting animals. Clever. I’m not “cat” person. We have a cat but she moslty avoids me. Maybe because she can tell I’m not that into her or because I’m the one that gives her flea meds. I love all your cats but if I had to choose one I’d say I am partial to your Santa cat because my son was born on Xmas day. Hope you are enjoying a lovely labor day weekend!
I like cute kitties like the one you mentioned liking, Cindy. However, of your cats? I am absolutely drawn to these long and lanky ones you do that seem to capture the movement and the “slink” of their bodies. I love those wet and translucent looking eyes on them, too.
Oh my! I LOVE LOVE LOVE cats and this is the post to end all posts, lol! What an amazing collection Cindy! I especially love the cute sleeping cat and the grumpy old cat at the beginning. So cute and nicely done. :)
Wow! Love the cats Cindy! Hector has beautiful melancholy eyes and the Four Early Middle Period Cats are definitely favourites of mine!!
Matilde is definitely one of my favorites but still love the “Princess” could hug them both!! Love, Mom
So many to choose from, so many colors, all so beautiful! LOVE this series, I’m glad I stopped back in to take a peak at your work!
